NOT ALL NURSES CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE
The hospital is a scary place. Doctors spend only a few minutes per day with each patient. The burden of nearly all patient care rests on your nurse. There are not enough nurses at the bedside and even fewer who are reliably competent. Lack of experience, inability to handle stress, and basic knowledge deficits are detrimental to safe and effective care.
Don’t misunderstand, the unicorn nurse does exist. They have enough knowledge and experience but aren’t burned out yet. They advocate for their patients and do their best. Even unicorn nurses though are often too busy wearing other peoples’ hats to help you before you crash.
As a nurse I love the critical thinking and problem-solving challenges that I face every day. Some things I see, however, scare the you-know-what out of me. These situations inspired this blog.
These are the reasons
I NEVER WANT TO BE ADMITTED.
